Description

The Carrier PowerLINE 69UG15-068S-24 is the Series 24 undermount generator set — the chassis-mounted counterpart to the 69RG15-120W-24 clip-on, meeting the same 2023 CARB requirements for engines in the 8-19 kW class. Listed at $10,500.

How the Fuel System Works

The ECU controls metering by activating the injectors and adjusting the suction control valve on the high-pressure pump, which changes the pressure held in the common rail. It monitors that pressure continuously with a rail sensor and corrects in real time. The result is fuel delivered at exactly the pressure, quantity and timing the operating condition calls for, rather than the compromise a mechanical pump has to make across the whole speed range.

A Note for Your Technicians

Series 24 control boxes are not the same as those on earlier Carrier UG gensets. The added relays — engine, starter solenoid, fuel pump and glow plug — change the troubleshooting sequence, and a technician working from an older manual will chase the wrong circuits. Make sure your shop has the current documentation before the first service.

Undermount Trade-Offs

An undermount stays with the chassis: nothing for the driver to fit, the container’s front wall stays clear, overall height stays low, and the fuel tank can be larger. The cost is flexibility — the genset serves that chassis and no other. Drayage operations with mixed container flows are usually better served by the Series 24 clip-on.
