This Payment Policy explains how Propane Tank Traders accepts payment, when payment is due, how we protect your financial information, and what to expect from the moment you place an order until your tank ships. By placing an order with us you agree to the terms described below. 1. Accepted Payment Methods
We want checkout to be simple, secure, and flexible whether you are a homeowner buying a single residential tank or a contractor outfitting an entire site. We currently accept the following forms of payment for orders shipped within the United States:
Credit & Debit Cards
We accept all major cards, including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover. Card payments are authorized at the time you place your order and are the fastest way to get your tank scheduled for shipment. The name and billing address you enter must match the information on file with your card issuer so that we can verify the transaction.
PayPal
You may check out using your PayPal balance, a linked bank account, or a card stored in your PayPal wallet. PayPal payments are confirmed instantly and are protected by PayPal’s own buyer protection program in addition to our policies.
Wire Transfer & ACH (Recommended for Large Orders)
For larger residential, commercial, and industrial orders we recommend paying by bank wire transfer or ACH. Wire transfers avoid card processing limits, are ideal for high-value purchases such as 1,000-gallon and larger tanks, and keep your transaction simple for accounting purposes. To pay by wire, simply select “Wire Transfer” at checkout. You will immediately receive an order summary, and our team will email you a formal invoice together with our banking details (account name, account number, routing number, and a payment reference). Your order is reserved while we await your funds.
2. When Payment Is Due
Full payment — including the tank price, the flat freight fee, and any applicable sales tax — is required before a tank is released to our carrier and scheduled for delivery. We do not ship tanks on open credit terms or “bill later” arrangements unless a separate written agreement has been signed in advance for an approved commercial account.
- Card & PayPal orders: payment is captured at checkout and your order enters processing the same or next business day.
- Wire transfer orders: we hold and reserve your tank for up to five (5) business days from the date the invoice is issued. If funds have not been received within that window, the reservation may be released and the item returned to general inventory. Let us know if you need more time and we will do our best to accommodate you.
3. Pricing, Fees & Currency
All prices on Propane Tank Traders are listed in U.S. dollars (USD). The price shown on each product page is the price of the tank itself. At checkout, the following may be added:
- A flat $350 freight fee per order for delivery to the contiguous (lower 48) United States. Shipments to Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. territories are quoted separately — contact us for a freight quote before ordering.
- State and local sales tax, where applicable, calculated automatically based on your shipping destination. See our Sales Tax Policy for full details.
We believe in transparent pricing. We do not charge hidden surcharges, credit card convenience fees, or “handling” add-ons. The total you see on the final checkout screen is the total you pay.
4. Deposits, Custom & Special-Order Items
Most tanks listed on our site are stocked items that are paid for in full at checkout. Certain items marked “Special Order” or “Built to Order” are manufactured or sourced specifically for you. These may require a non-refundable deposit and have longer lead times; any such terms will be disclosed to you in writing on your invoice before you commit to the purchase. 5. Payment Security & Fraud Prevention
Protecting your financial information is a priority. Our website is secured with SSL/TLS encryption (look for the padlock in your browser), and all card transactions are handled by PCI-DSS compliant payment processors. Propane Tank Traders does not see or store your full card number on our own servers.
To protect both you and us against fraud, orders may be screened using address verification (AVS), card security code (CVV) checks, and other validation tools. For larger orders, or when billing and shipping information do not match, we may contact you to verify details before releasing the shipment. This brief, occasional step helps prevent unauthorized purchases and protects legitimate customers.
6. Billing Information Accuracy
You agree to provide current, complete, and accurate billing and contact information for all purchases. Inaccurate billing details are a common cause of declined transactions and shipping delays. If any information changes after you place an order, please notify us promptly so we can update your record.
7. Declined or Failed Payments
If a payment is declined, no order is created and no tank is reserved. Common reasons include an incorrect billing address, insufficient funds, an expired card, or a daily transaction limit set by your bank. If this happens, please verify your details and try again, use an alternative payment method, or contact your card issuer. You are welcome to reach out to us and we will help you complete your order, including arranging a wire transfer if your card limit is the obstacle.
8. Order Confirmation & Receipts
After a successful payment you will receive an order confirmation email containing your order number, an itemized summary (tank, freight, and tax), and your billing details. This email serves as your receipt. If you do not receive it within a few minutes, please check your spam folder and then contact us so we can resend it. Commercial buyers who need a formal invoice for accounts-payable purposes can request one at any time.
9. Changes, Cancellations & Price Adjustments
If you need to change or cancel an order, contact us as soon as possible. We can usually accommodate changes before the tank has been dispatched to the carrier. Once a tank has shipped, our Return & Refund Policy governs returns and any applicable restocking fees. Prices, promotions, and freight rates are subject to change, but the price confirmed on your paid order will always be honored.
