Accessories and Parts

The support equipment that makes a refrigerated container or a reefer trailer work on site: voltage transformers to match a container’s 460 volt three-phase requirement to the supply you actually have, and clip-on generator sets for locations with no supply at all.

Three Phase Transformers

A reefer container expects 460 V, 3-phase, 60 Hz. Yards and depots rarely have that at the point of use. A step-down transformer such as the 45 kVA 480 V delta to 208Y/120 V or the 30 kVA 480 V to 240/120 V unit feeds site lighting, offices and tools from an industrial 480 V service, while step-up units like the 230 V to 460 V and 220 V to 440 V kits let a container run from a lower-voltage supply.

Sizing a Transformer

Size on kVA, not on horsepower or amps alone. Add the full-load kVA of everything on the secondary, then add margin for motor inrush — a reefer compressor draws several times its running current for the first seconds after start. Confirm the phase count, the frequency, whether you need a neutral (wye) or not (delta), and the enclosure rating: NEMA 1 is indoor only, NEMA 3R is rated for outdoor use.

Portable Power

Where there is no supply to transform, a 15 kW clip-on genset gives a container its own 460 V, 3-phase, 60 Hz source. See the full genset range for clip-on and undermount options.
