Is Tier 4 Interim Enough?
It depends entirely on where the unit will work, and the answer is worth getting right before you buy rather than after. Tier 4 interim satisfies a great many jurisdictions and all common export markets whose own standards it meets or exceeds. It does not satisfy the 2023 CARB requirement for the 8-19 kW class, so a set destined for California work should be a Series 24. For EU Stage V, the Series 55.
What You Get for the Lower Price
Mechanically this is the same underslung powerpac as the rest of the range: same 15 kW output at 460 volts three phase, same quick-fit mounting to a standard ISO chassis, same integral fuel tank and battery. The saving is in the emissions certification tier, not in build quality or capability.
Applications
Export and international container haulage, and port and terminal work outside the United States. Carrier states that units built with these export engines are exclusively for sale and use outside the United States, so this is not a set to buy for domestic work — for any US operation see the Series 24.

Fitting to a Chassis
Undermount gensets bolt to the rails of a standard ISO container chassis. Fitting is a workshop job done once; after that the set stays with the trailer and the driver has nothing to attach or remove. Confirm the chassis rail dimensions and any existing mounting provision before ordering — most standard chassis accept the unit directly, but older or specialist trailers occasionally need brackets.
Running Costs and Service
Fuel burn runs about 0.7 to 1.1 gallons an hour against a working reefer load, and the integral tank gives a long run between fills. Service intervals are set in engine hours; a drayage set reaches them quickly, so book maintenance against the hour meter rather than the calendar.

On used units we provide the hour meter reading, the service history where we hold it, and photographs of the actual set including the emissions plate. Ask us to test output under load and confirm the voltage stays inside tolerance through a compressor start. Ask for the details on a specific unit.
