Description

The Thermo King Precedent S-700 is the capacity model in the Precedent trailer range. Where the S-600 is specified for typical chilled and frozen distribution, the S-700 is what you buy when the load goes on warm, the doors open twenty times a day, or the trailer is a 53 footer running ice cream through a southern summer. Listed at $13,500.

Reading Those Capacity Figures

Reefer capacity is always quoted at a box temperature and an ambient, and the numbers collapse as the box gets colder — 68,000 BTU/hr at 35°F becomes 25,000 at -20°F on the same unit. That is physics, not a defect: the colder the evaporator has to run, the less heat each pound of refrigerant moves. Size on the coldest setpoint you actually carry, in the hottest ambient you actually work in, and leave margin for a trailer whose insulation is ten years old.

Electric Standby

The S-700 retains useful capacity on electric standby — 50,000 BTU/hr at 35°F — which is what makes it practical to plug a loaded trailer in overnight at a distribution centre instead of idling it. The engine stops accumulating hours, the yard stays quiet, and the fuel stays in the tank.

Applications

Ice cream and deep-frozen distribution, multi-drop routes with heavy door activity, southern and southwestern lanes where ambient temperatures punish a marginal unit, and 53 foot vans generally. For lighter duty the S-600 costs less to run.

Freight

Ships on a flatbed; a forklift is needed at the receiving end. Freight is quoted to your delivery ZIP code. Contact us for engine hours, serial plate photographs and availability.
