Description

This 230 V to 460 V step-up transformer solves the most common problem in refrigerated container logistics: the container expects 460 volts three phase and the site has 230. It is a modular, plate-mounted dual-voltage unit supplied ready to connect, with the cable and receptacle already fitted. Listed at $3,100.

Why a Reefer Needs 460 Volts

Refrigerated ISO containers are built to a single global electrical specification — 460 volts, three phase, 60 Hz — so that a box loaded in one country can be plugged in at a terminal in another. That standardisation is what makes the cold chain work, and it is also why a container arriving at a site with a 230 volt supply simply will not run. A step-up transformer is the bridge, and it is far cheaper than upgrading a site’s electrical service or hiring a clip-on genset for a container that is going to sit for weeks.

The CEE-17 Receptacle

CEE-17 (IEC 60309) is the industrial connector standard — the colour-coded, keyed pin-and-sleeve plugs and sockets used across industrial and marine power. The keying and colour coding are safety features, not decoration: they make it physically impossible to plug a 230 volt appliance into a 460 volt outlet. If your site uses a different connector, other receptacles can be furnished by special order.

Modular and Portable

At 140 lb the unit can be moved between locations by two people or a pallet truck, and the plate-and-bracket mounting means it can be fixed to a wall, a frame or a skid depending on the site. That portability is the point: a depot that occasionally receives a mismatched container needs a transformer it can carry to the container, not a permanent installation.
