Description
The Thermo King T-1000R Spectrum is the mid-capacity multi-temperature unit in the T-Series truck range. It came out of several years of development and field testing aimed at one target: higher refrigeration capacity at lower engine speeds, so that a distribution vehicle spends less fuel and makes less noise doing the same work. Listed at $4,000.

High-Ambient Capability
When Thermo King set the performance brief for the T-Series, working in extreme heat was a requirement rather than an aspiration. Thousands of hours of field trials went into proving the units hold setpoint in ambients up to 55°C. That matters far beyond desert climates — the air a roof-mounted condenser breathes on a black-topped yard in Phoenix in August is a great deal hotter than the shade temperature the weather station reports.
Operating It Without Errors
The T-Series control philosophy is that a unit which is easy to operate is a unit that does not spoil loads. The in-cab controller is intuitive, the setpoint profiles can be locked to commodities, and monitoring is straightforward enough that a depot can spot a drifting compartment before it becomes a claim. Nearly every temperature excursion we hear about traces to a setting, not a failure.
