Description
The Thermo King SLXi-DRC is the single-temperature member of the SLXi family, specified around two things fleets increasingly care about: a lower global-warming-potential refrigerant charge and less tare weight. Operators adopting it have cited both — the extra cargo capacity that comes from a lighter unit, and a refrigerant that reduces the carbon footprint of the fleet. Listed at $6,000.

Single Temperature or Multi-Temperature?
A single-temperature unit conditions one box to one setpoint. That is what most reefer freight needs and it is the cheaper, simpler, more reliable choice — one evaporator, one control loop, fewer things to fail. You only need multi-temperature when a single trailer genuinely carries frozen and chilled product on the same run, and for that we list the T-1000R Spectrum and T-1200R Spectrum instead.
Applications
Chilled and frozen line-haul on a single setpoint, weight-sensitive freight, and fleets with sustainability reporting obligations that make refrigerant choice a procurement criterion rather than a technical detail.
Freight and Support
Ships on a flatbed with forklift loading at both ends; freight is quoted to your delivery ZIP code. Service is available through the Thermo King dealer network nationwide. Contact us for engine hours, serial plate photographs and current availability.
Reading the Capacity Figures
Refrigeration capacity is always quoted at a box temperature and an ambient, and it falls as the setpoint drops — 46,000 BTU/hr at 35°F becomes 32,000 at 0°F on the same unit. Specify against the coldest setpoint you actually carry in the hottest ambient you actually work in, and leave margin for a trailer whose insulation has aged.
Maintenance and Parts
The Precedent C-600 engine underneath the SLXi-DRC is one of the most widely fitted engines in Thermo King’s current range, which means parts availability and technician familiarity are both excellent. Belts and idler bearings are the routine consumables; use genuine parts and set tension with a gauge rather than by feel.
What We Check Before Sale
Hour meter reading, a full cooling, heating and defrost cycle, coil condition, and whether the electronic throttling valve modulates cleanly rather than hunting around setpoint. A sticking ETV is easy to miss on a short test and expensive to discover in service. Ask for the inspection notes on a specific unit.
