Description
The Thermo King SB-110+ is the smallest unit in the SB+ trailer family, built for operators who need genuine reefer capability without paying for capacity they will never use. It carries the same TK486 engine family (the SB-310+ uses the TK486VH variant), the same SR-2 controller and the same service parts as its larger siblings, so a fleet running SB-210+ or SB-310+ units can add an SB-110+ without adding a second parts inventory.
It suits 28 to 45 foot vans on regional produce, dairy and floral work — loads that need reliable temperature control on a route that ends the same day, rather than the deep-freeze pull-down of a cross-country haul. Listed at $6,500.

Why the SR-2 Controller Matters
The SR-2 was the generation that made these units genuinely easy to run. The display is large and readable from the dock, the panel is sloped so it does not mirror sunlight back at the driver, and the keypad sits where a driver reaches rather than where the engineers had room. Fault codes are plain numeric and documented, which is what keeps a roadside diagnosis to minutes instead of a tow.
Buying a Used SB-110+
Engine hours are the number that matters. Below about 12,000 hours a TK486V has plenty of life left; between 12,000 and 20,000 you should budget for injectors, a water pump or a head at some point in your ownership. Ask us for the hour meter reading, a full cool-down and defrost cycle test, and photographs of the serial plate before you commit. Compare it against the larger SB-210 if your loads run frozen.
Freight and Installation
Units ship on a flatbed or in an enclosed van and need a forklift at the receiving end. Mounting to a trailer nose wall is a job for a Thermo King dealer or an experienced reefer shop — the bulkhead has to be cut and reinforced, the fuel and electrical runs made, and the system evacuated and charged. How Cold Will an SB-110+ Hold a Trailer?
Down to frozen setpoints in an insulated van in good condition, but pull-down time is the honest constraint on the smallest unit in the range. If you routinely load warm product and need it at -10°F before you reach the first stop, step up to a SB-230 or a Precedent S-600. If you load pre-chilled product and hold it, the SB-110+ is the cheaper answer.
