Description
The Magnatex MAXP Series is the heavy process member of the Magnatex range, built to ANSI B73.3 — the American standard for sealless horizontal end-suction centrifugal pumps. Dimensional compliance with B73.3 means the pump is interchangeable with any other conforming pump at the baseplate and the flanges, which is why refineries and petrochemical plants specify the standard in the first place. Listed at $9,500.

Containment Engineered for Hydrocarbon Duty
The MAXP’s design choices all point at one thing: keeping the process liquid inside on a duty where the consequences of not doing so are severe.
- Single static gasket construction — no O-rings anywhere in the process fluid, so no elastomer to swell, extrude or degrade in an aggressive hydrocarbon.
- Heavy-walled containment shell, with optional secondary containment for the highest-consequence services.
- Anti-contact ribs that physically prevent the rotating assembly from touching and breaching the containment shell.
- Provisions for thermocouple, RTD and vibration monitoring, so the pump can be watched continuously rather than inspected periodically.
The Temperature Range Is the Headline
From -150°F to +800°F is an unusually wide window for a sealless pump, and it is what puts the MAXP into cryogenic service at one end and hot oil circulation at the other. Samarium cobalt magnets are specified for the high-temperature end because neodymium loses field strength as it heats — get that selection wrong and the coupling slips at temperature. Steam jackets are available where the liquid must not be allowed to solidify in the casing.
Applications
Refining and petrochemical processing, hot oil and heat transfer fluid circulation, cryogenic transfer, chemical manufacture, and any duty where an API 610 style pump would be specified but a seal is unacceptable.
