What DNV 2.7-1 Certification Covers

Offshore lifting is a different problem from lifting on land. A crane on a supply vessel is working from a deck that is moving in three axes, and a container being landed can arrive with a substantial vertical impact and a swing. DNV 2.7-1 is the standard that addresses it: it specifies the design loads for the frame, the sling arrangement and its certification, and the periodic inspection regime that keeps a unit in service. A standard road tank container in the same duty is a dropped-object incident waiting to happen — offshore operators will simply refuse it at the quay.

Practical Details That Matter

The units stack with their slings still attached, which sounds trivial and is not: on a congested supply base, having to rig and de-rig every unit as it comes off a vessel costs hours and creates lifting operations that would otherwise not happen. Forklift pockets let the same unit be handled on land without a crane. And stainless steel construction means it can carry an aggressive chemical and be cleaned for the next product rather than being dedicated to one duty.

Applications

Offshore drilling and production support, subsea and well services chemicals, remote site fuel and lubricant supply, marine and shipyard work, and any operation that needs a certified, craneable liquid container. Related: our 15 kW clip-on genset can power a reefer container on site.
