Description

The Thermo King SLXi-300 is the trailer unit that carried the SLX platform into the Tier 4 final era. It uses the Precedent C-600 engine, which is what gives it a seven-year CARB and EPA compliance horizon, and it was engineered hard for weight — around 200 lb lighter than comparable units, which is 200 lb of payload a fleet gets back on every trailer. Listed at $7,000.

Why Weight Matters on a Reefer

A refrigerated trailer is heavy before you load it — insulation, a reinforced bulkhead, a fuel tank and the unit itself. On weight-limited freight such as beverages, dairy or bottled water, every pound of tare is a pound of revenue you cannot carry. Two hundred pounds does not sound like much until you multiply it by a hundred trailers and a thousand loads a year.

Applications

European-specification and export trailers, weight-sensitive domestic freight, chilled distribution, and fleets running mixed SLXi and Precedent equipment who want a common engine across the pool. The SLXi-DRC is the single-temperature variant built for a lower-emission refrigerant charge.

Buying Used

Check hours, coil condition and whether the ETV has been serviced — a sticking throttling valve shows up as a unit that hunts around setpoint rather than one that fails outright, and it is easy to miss on a short test run. Ask us to run the unit through a full cycle and to confirm the hour meter reading before you commit.
