Unlike a residential heater, a commercial Triton unit pairs a large storage volume with a high-input burner so recovery keeps pace with sustained draw rather than short household peaks.

Specifying a commercial propane water heater

• Fuel type matters. This unit is configured for liquid propane, not natural gas. The two are not interchangeable without a conversion kit and are usually ordered as separate models.
• Size on recovery, not storage alone. Peak hourly demand and incoming water temperature drive the BTU input you need.
• Venting and clearances. Commercial units have specific vent, combustion-air and service-clearance requirements — confirm these with your mechanical contractor before ordering.
• Feed it properly. A 250,000 BTU appliance needs a propane supply tank and regulator sized for that load; undersized tanks frost up and starve the burner in cold weather.
