Description

The AM Tank 490 gallon diesel fuel tank is the entry point into on-site bulk fuel, a steel vessel on a skid seated in a spill containment pan. It carries enough diesel to keep a small crew or a farm shop running for weeks, yet it is compact enough that a single forklift can reposition it whenever the work moves. Supplied unused at $2,400.

The tank is supplied with a matched steel containment pan sized to hold a meaningful share of its contents, so drips at the fill point and pump are caught rather than soaking into the yard. The pan ships with the tank — there is nothing extra to source before the unit can be put to work.

Unused, Not Refurbished

This is new stock that has never held fuel. The interior is clean, the pump has factory hours only, and the coating has not been through a season of loading and unloading. For diesel that will feed common-rail injection systems, starting with a clean tank matters more than most buyers expect — contamination picked up from a used vessel ends up in filters and injectors.

Best Uses for a 490 Gallon Tank

Small builders, landscapers, tree services and equipment rental yards use this size to stop sending crews to retail pumps. On farms it commonly sits beside the shop as the tractor and UTV fill point. Facilities managers buy it as the dedicated supply for a standby generator, where a few hundred gallons is the difference between riding out an outage and chasing a fuel truck during one.

Handling and Placement

At this capacity the tank can be moved full by most yard forklifts and empty by a compact loader, which is why it suits operations that relocate every few months. Set it on level, compacted ground or a slab, keep the dispensing side clear for hose reach, and lock the fill point when the site is unattended.

Freight and Delivery

Delivery is by flatbed with unloading at the destination. Because skid tanks are craned or forked off the deck, we quote freight after confirming your address and what equipment is on site. Ask for a delivered price and we will include it with the tank quote.

Should You Size Up?

The most common regret with a 490 gallon diesel fuel tank is buying it for a fleet rather than a crew. If more than two or three diesel machines refuel daily, delivery minimums start working against you and the 838 gallon tank or 1,050 gallon tank pays for the difference in fewer fuel drops. Our buyers guide covers how to size around delivery minimums.
